A card to share today. I'm really enjoying these Just The Ticket stamps and die from Papertrey Ink. Have used them in most of my cards lately. Cards seem to be all I'm making at the moment. I really want to get some Scrapbook pages done, but it's just the time factor. I am trying to find some kind of routine that allows me to get everything I need to get down on the home front and still allow time for creating. It's a work in progress, but I hope I'm making some headway. I had set aside last night to create and then I burnt my finger making some fudge. And so I spend the remainder of the evening in front of the tv with my hand in a bowl of cold water. It just would not stop stinging and water was the only relief. So there went any creating... I had been inspired by this card by Ashley Newell. She has some gorgeous cards on her blog and she also does videos of them which is even better!

Time Flies...

Wow, 4 months since the last post...so much has happend since then.
We have sold our house, bought another one, moved into the new house, packed and unpacked more boxes than I could count. But we are settled now and have half of my craft space organised. I was lucky enough to have my own craft room in our old house but have had to downsize to a craft nook here. It is a small computer nook in the dining/living area that I have claimed as my space as we have given the kids there own rooms. I have some storage beside it and then a cupboard in the garage which is quite close and internal access. And then I still have about 5 more boxes to unpack and put where? - I'm not sure. I cannot believe how much stuff I have got! It's not till you pack it into boxes that you get an idea of the quantity of it. I still need to do some serious chucking out but at the the moment they are sitting in the garage waiting for me.

In all this time I have done 2 layouts, some tags and 3 cards. Not much I know but I have ideas in my head and I think I am getting to the point where I can have some creating time. Here is a card I made for my sister's birthday.

A Little Birdie Told Me

Hope you are enjoying your Saturday! It is another wet day here, a perfect day for stripping wallpaper which the kids and I have spent the morning doing. Not the most fun job but its gotta be done before you can enjoy the new nice paper on the walls.

I have a card to share today. It uses the new My Minds Eye Dusk/ Dawn papers. I usually need colour and black and white doesn't normally lend itself my way. But I really like this range and with just a little bit of added colour, I quite like it.

Wow, two posts in two days - I think it is a record for me!

I came across Embellish Magazine the other day and they have some wonderful cards in there. For only $3US it is a very cheap card mag. I made the following card with their latest challenge in mind. Using a green, kraft and black colour palette and including butterflies.

Paper is from The Girls Paperie, florwers are Prima, Basic Grey rub on and the ribbon I hand dyed and scrunched myself. I used Martha Stewart's butterfly puch to make the butterflies. Stamp, ink and cardstock are Stampin Up.

Another layout from the Dimensional Details class. In this one we used Ranger Distress Inks to create the colour on the background behind the photos and down the bottom of the layout. Lots of fun! I'm still really enjoying this class although I have a few unfinished layouts. The great thing is, is that even if you don't get the layout from one week finished (or even started), you just carry on with the next week. No pressure! Nic Howard is a very talented teacher and I'd highly recommended any of her classes. A shame she isn't teaching at SENZ anymore this year.

Scrapping Again..

Yes, I have done some more scrapbooking. After having a bit of a break since December I am back scrapbooking - and it feels great!!
I have decided to do a class through Big Picture Scrapbooking to help kick start myself. Nic Howard's Dimensional Details class runs for 3 months and I love her work, so I signed myself up.
I have a layout to share created for this class, although I can't take complete credit for it as the basic instructions were part of the course, I've just added my own personal touch. I'm actually really enjoying having some instructions to follow as it is making my scrapbooking process so much quicker. I am generally a slow, paper shuffling, scrapbooker and it can take me a few evenings just to do 1 layout. So it's great to not have to think about it too much - I tend to overthink and over complicate it sometimes. I was lucky enough to get a digital SLR camera recently. I had been saving and then the perfect bargain came along. I love it!! I used it for the photo in this layout and then used a photoshop action from The Pioneer Woman. I also dusted off my Silhouette machine and used it for the circle, flower branch and title.

I am still here, promise. Life has just, well gotten busy lately and I haven't had time to do much of anything creative. So that is why I have decided to do the Scrap Box NZ Christmas challenge - to make me do something each week. I just needed something to kick start my scrapping again and get me thinking in a creative headspace again. So I did the first challenge and was pleasantly surprised. I had wanted to do a layout for Josh about seeing the bigger picture of Chistmas and that's it's not all about the presents! So I used the new Nook and Pantry from Basic Grey as the challenge was to use non Christmassy colours. I love this new line of papers, the colours are just yummy. And to my utter suprise I got 2nd, stoked about that as I was just kickstarting the scrapping mojo again and wasn't really entering to win just to make myself do something! So here's the layout, first a close up of the journalling:

Yes I have been busy

I have another card to share today. It doesn't look like I have been very busy crafting lately but I have. Birthday and father's day cards, all of which I didn't get a chance to photogragh before giving. One of them I really liked and think I will be creating another version of the idea so I will share that when I've done it. I have also done some scrapbooking. I have only 1 page completed of Riley and he is now 6 months so have been trying to crack on and get some completed to show that yes he really is here. I have almost finished one but I tend to get about 80% done and then the last 20 is a long drawn out process. The layout can sit on the side of my desk for days...sometimes even weeks (shocking I know)...before I actually finish it. And that is what the layout I did last week is doing, just sitting there, reminding me every time I go into the room that it is waiting to be completed. I plan to get to it later in the week.

So anyway here is a simple card using Kraft cardstock again. I really love this as a background for cards and also layouts.. lends itself to most colours. The lace border look was cut on the Silhouette and so was the label shape. Paper is Making Memories and stamps are a new set I grabbed awhile back from American Crafts. The butterfly is from K&Company Amy Butler range, love how it is embossed. Ribbon is Autumn Leaves from memory??

New Favourites

I have a card to share tonight. It is one I made a week or so back but keep forgetting to photograph. It is the first time I have used Kraft cardstock and I love it! I think it is my new favourite cardstock colour - so versatile.

I also used the Whisper White Stampin Up ink aswell for the first time and love how it comes up on the Kraft cardstock. This is quite a thick ink and is really fun to use. I can see myself using it a lot!!

I embossed the card with Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder and used the White ink to highlight the dots. Then I cut out the stamped heart image from Stampin Up's Always set (used the whisper white ink on Baja Breeze cardstock). I also am really liking the border punch used in this card also. The felt flowers from Stampin Up are really pretty and I used Kaiser pearls as a center.

My first layout in over a month - yay! I started this layout after seeing the sketch competition over at Scrappin Patch and thought 'I can do that' and knew exactly what photo to use. It came together relatively quickly for me and I got to use my Silhouette again - loving this new toy of mine! The flower looking background piece is actually the top of a this dandelion shape from Quickutz. I tried to add a link but I only seem to be able to get to the designs shop through my silhouette program. They have some really great designs.

When I first saw Basic Grey's Wisteria line, I didn't think is was really me (I am not a purple girl). But the more I saw it used, the more I liked it until I caved in a bought some and now I love it! Funny how you often like a product only after you've seen someone else use it. I guess that's what enabling is all about lol.

So I was lucky enough to have last Saturday afternoon just to create. We went to my parents for the weekend and mum and I were going to go to a local scrapbooking get together some ladies have there once a month. But mum wasn't feeling too great and Riley would not sleep, so we stayed at her place and she watched Riley while I scrapbooked. I got a page I had been working on during the week finished and a card done - that is good going for me, I am a slooooow scrapbooker! I have yet to take photos of them so I'll share them later in the week, but here is a card I made a couple of weeks back.

Hope your having a good week. Life here at the moment consists of kindy runs, washing and finding our way back into our routine after the holidays. It seems to take about a week to get back into the swing of things after the break. Although I love that the kids enjoy kindy so much and it gives me a slight reprieve during the day it is very busy and I actually look forward to the holidays. Love that we don't have to be up, organised and out the door by a certain time and it doesn't matter if it's 10am and the kids are still in their jammas! Well I hope to post again sooner than it took me this time, but bye for now.

Well hello and welcome to my blog. I have decided to join the ever growing bloging community and share my paper crafting journey with you. I can't promise daily posts as with littlies around, time is not kind to one's personal hobbies but I do manage to fit in a little crafty time here and there. So I hope you find a little inspiration here or something to make you smile.

I have not been big on stamping in the past but I am developing a new found passion for it. One of my favourite stampers at the moment is Jennifer McGuire. To me she is the inking guru, I have learnt a lot from her blog and seen a lot of things I want to try there. So she made these gorgeous little diecut cards a couple of weeks back and I thought they would be perfect for those times you just need to add a little note and not a whole card. So on Saturday while hubby took the kids fishing off the wharf, I had some playtime. These are my take on her wonderful wee cards, you can find her's here

I have used my new Silhouette to cut out the 2 label shapes (one of patterned paper and one of plain white cardstock and folded a turn over at the top of the cardstock to join them together. The leaf on the one with the flower is also cut with the Silhouette.
